【摘要】:Duetotheincreaseduseofadhesivelybondedplasticsasaresultoftheinherentadvantagesaffordedbybondedratherthanmechanicallyfastenedjoints,particularlythealleviationofstressrisersandstresscracking,thereisaneedforstandardtestsbywhichjointsofvarioussubstratesandadhesivescanbecompared.Thistestmethodisintendedtomeetsuchaneed.Thistestmethodislimitedtotesttemperaturesbelowthesofteningpointofthesubjectadherends,andisnotintendedforuseonanisotropicadherendssuchasreinforcedplasticlaminates.Themisuseofstrengthvaluesobtainedfromthistestmethodasdesignstressallowablevaluesforstructuraljointscouldleadtoproductfailure,propertydamage,andhumaninjury.Theapparentshearstrengthofanadhesiveobtainedfromagivensmallsingle-lapspecimenmaydifferfromthatobtainedfromajointmadewithdifferentadherendsorbyadifferentbondingprocess.Thenormalvariationoftemperatureandmoistureintheserviceenvironmentcausestheadherendsandtheadhesivetoswellandshrink.Theadherendsandadhesivearelikelytohavedifferentthermalandmoisturecoefficientsofexpansion.Eveninsmallspecimens,short-termenvironmentalchangescaninduceinternalstressesorchemicalchangesintheadhesivethatpermanentlyaffecttheapparentstrengthandothermechanicalpropertiesoftheadhesive.Theproblemofpredictingjointbehaviorinachangingenvironmentisevenmoredifficultifadifferenttypeofadherendisusedinalargerstructuraljointthanwasusedinthesmallspecimen.Theapparentshearstrengthmeasuredwithasingle-lapspecimenisnotsuitablefordeterminingallowabledesignstressesfordesigningstructuraljointsthatdifferinanymannerfromthejointstestedwithoutthoroughanalysisandunderstandingofthejointandadhesivebehaviors.Single-laptestsmaybeusedforcomparingandselectingadhesivesorbondingprocessesforsusceptibilitytofatigueandenvironmentalchanges,butsuchcomparisonsmustbemadewithgreatcautionsincedifferentadhesivesmayresponddifferentlyindifferentjoints.SeeGuideD4896forfurtherdiscussionoftheconceptsrelativetointerpretationofadhesivebondedsinglelapjoints.1.1ThistestmethodisintendedtocomplementTestMethodD1002andTestMethodD3163andextenditsapplicationtosingle-lap-shearadhesivejointsemployingplasticadherends.Thetestmethodisusefulforgeneratingcomparativeshearstrengthdataforjointsmadefromanumberofplastics.Itcanalsoprovideameansbywhichseveralplasticssurfacetreatmentscanbecompared.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.Note18212;AcompletemetriccompaniontoTestMethodD3164hasbeendeveloped-D3164M.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
